2020 MLB World Series: Walker Buehler is Magnificent in Game 3

Game 3 of the World Series was underway tonight with the series tied 1-1 with Rays having Charlie Morton who is a veteran pitcher with playoff experience and the Dodgers going to who they believe is the best pitcher in the rotation all season long and that is young phenom Walker Buehler.

I still believe that Clayton Kershaw is still the best pitcher for the Dodgers, I know we’ve seen some down games but we’ve also seen lots of great games from him this season as his record this year was 6-2 with a 2.16 ERA and was tied for 7th in the wins category this season. Buehler was 1-0 this season with a 3.44 ERA as he was in the injured list during the short MLB season. Walker has been huge for the Dodgers on some of the Dodgers biggest games when it comes down to clutch moments which is exactly what we witness tonight.

The Dodgers get on the board first behind Justin Turner’s solo home run off Rays pitcher Charlie Morton. It’s been key for the Dodgers to jump on top first as it benefits the Dodgers pitchers because they pitch with more confidence and it allows them to control the game.

After the Rays got 2 outs in the third inning, Corey Seager was hit by a pitch then comes Justin Turner and picks up his second hit of the game with a double down the left field line which puts runners on second and third. Max Muncy then hits a single to center to score in both runners and gives the Dodgers a 3-0 lead. It didn’t take long for the Dodgers offense to wake up while Cody bellinger singles then Joc Pederson singles and Cody advances to third then Austin Barnes with a successful squeeze bunt to bring in the runner from third with the sacrifice. Mookie Betts then comes up and singles to the middle and brings in another run as the Dodgers take a 5-0 lead in the fourth inning.

It took until the fifth inning for Walker Buehler to give up his first hit in the game which allowed for the Rays to get a runner on second and then Rays SS Willy Adames hits a RBI double to bring in the first run for the Rays here in Game 3.

The smartest decision for manager Dave Roberts was starting Austin Barnes as he got a clutch sacrifice bunt and a solo home run in the sixth and let’s not forget about his great defense behind the plate. He’s been great in this game so far as Walker Buehler is pitching a very good Game 3 of the World Series. He when six strong innings allowing only one run and striking out 10. Only allowed three hits in this game as he kept the Rays line up off balanced.

Dodgers Closer Kenley Jansen comes into the game in the bottom of the ninth and closes the doors on the Rays. He struck out the first batter with three pitches and was looking good on the mound tonight. Got the next batter out in three more pitches and then Rays star Randy Arozarena who has been struggling bad in the World Series batting 1-9 in three games prior to this at bat as he hits a solo home run off Kenley Jansen with two outs then gets the next batter to pop up and end the game.

The Dodgers played great in this game and Walker Buehler was the main reason why they won Game 3 of the World Series with his great pitching. He had control of his fastball and got a first pitch strike on 15 of 21 batters he faced today and struck out 10 in six strong innings as the Dodgers win 6-2 and now lead the World Series 2-1 with Game 4 coming Saturday 8ET/5PT on FOX.
