2020 NBA Finals: Lakers take 2-0 series lead behind LeBron’s 33 points

October 2, 2020

After the Lakers blew out the Heat in Game 1 of the 2020 NBA Finals, the Heat must be prepared for another long night after it was announced that Heat G Goran Dragic and Bam Adebayo are both out for Game 2 after suffering injuries during Game 1 on Wednesday.

During the first half of Game 2, we actually had a competitive game after Game 1’s embarrassing loss for the Heat.  The Lakers shot 27 three pointers in the first half which is an NBA Finals record for the half. Rajon Rondo continues to make an impact for the Lakers which reminds me of the Rondo when he was playing for the Celtics.

The Miami Heat have been accustomed to playing zone defense throughout the playoffs, but it just seems like it’s not working against the Lakers here in the NBA Finals. They have an answer for every time the Heat throw different schemes on LeBron James and Anthony Davis as both have played great so far in the first with LeBron 12/6/4 and Davis with 15 points and 4 rebounds. It seems like the Heat have played much better in Game 2 than Game 1 and even with having two of their key players out of tonight’s game.

During the 3rd quarter the Miami Heat played well by getting back in the game and cutting the lead down to 10 points as the Lakers lead 103-93.  Heat F Kelly Olynyk has been lights out coming off the bench scoring 16 points on 3-5 from three and 7 rebounds. Heat G Tyler Herro has checked into the NBA Finals with 17 points through the first 3 quarters of Game 2 of the NBA Finals. LeBron and Davis have a combined of 55 points together through the first 36 mins of the game.

Jimmy Butler has been playing great in this game as he trying to get a win for his team here in the NBA Finals; he’s doing everything possible and is on the verge of getting a triple double. The Heat began getting stops in the 4th quarter and have gotten the Lakers in foul trouble which can be a major problem for them here down the stretch.

Lakers F Anthony Davis has been playing magnificent in this game with 30 points on 14-18 from the field and 13 rebounds so far with 5:09 remaining in the game. Davis has been making a case in the first two games on why he can win the NBA Finals MVP with his play, but at the same time, we have LeBron James also playing great as usual. The Lakers will end up sweeping the Heat on Tuesday night as the Lakers are just too good.

LeBron finishes the game with 33 points 9 rebounds 9 assists as he has never led an NBA Finals series 2-0 in his 9 other appearances in the Finals. Anthony Davis was right behind LeBron with 32 points 14 rebounds. Heat F Jimmy Butler collects 25 points 13 assists and 7 rebounds in Game 2 loss 124-114 to the Los Angeles Lakers as they try to recollect themselves until Sunday’s Game 3 as the are behind 0-2 in the series.

The question is whether Bam Adebayo and Goran Dragic play in Game 3 after suffering injuries in Game 1, we’ll find out as the Lakers look to take a 3-0 lead in the 2020 NBA Finals on Sunday Evening 7:30ET/4:30PT on ABC.
