October 13, 2017

Los Angeles Lakers’ third-string point guard will make a name for himself in the G League.

isn’t the only Lakers rookie playing well in the preseason. Point guard has also been holding his own and showing true potential to be a solid pro.

Caruso got quality minutes for L.A. in Summer League and displayed a high basketball IQ. He showed he had a knack for distributing the ball and could eve hit the occasional three ball and outside shot.

Caruso did well enough in Las Vegas to be invited to the Lakers training camp. He was signed to a two-way deal with L.A. and their G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers.

As a third option at point guard it was unlikely that Caruso would see a lot of playing time for the Lakers this preseason but due to an injured and sidelined , Caruso is picking up PT as the backup guard to .

Caruso has taken advantage of his opportunity to see the court and has impressed against heavier competition in preseason doing the same things he did well in Summer League.

The 23-year-old, who admittedly looks a tad older, continues to show that he knows the game through his gifted passing and ability to knock down open threes.

In a match against the Utah Jazz, lead the Lakers to their first preseason win. He ended the game with only four points but ten impressive dimes.

L.A. followed up that win with a second-consecutive W against their city rival, the Los Angeles Clippers, in which Caruso had 11 points, 3 assists and went 3-for-4 on three pointers.

Caruso has been one of the Lakers’ success stories in preseason impressing his coaches, teammates and fans.

If he can play at a high level against NBA competition he will be a standout for the South Bay Lakers.

As a two-way player Caruso will spend the majority of his time in the G league and by the looks of it, he’s more than capable of leading his team and proving he belongs in the NBA–all the way.
