After both teams took heartbreaking losses last week, they certainly came out to play ball today for the AFC West matchup.
Chargers defensive player Joey Bosa was questionable all week long for today’s game until moments before the game as it was a great sign for the Chargers.
The Chiefs came out with great intensity as the home crowd was making it hard for the Chargers. Chiefs had 5 straight first downs before Mahomes threw his first interception of the game as Chargers Rookie Asante Samuel Jr made a terrific diving play in the middle of the first quarter.
Patrick Mahomes had two turnovers in the first quarter with the interception he threw then a fumble by his receiver which is very unusual for the Chiefs. The defense for both teams were great as they ended the first quarter scoreless.
As the second quarter began the Chargers began to make plays and get down the field as Justin Herbert connected with Keenan Allen for the first touchdown of the game followed by a missed extra point.
In the first three possessions for the Chiefs, they allowed 2 fumbles to be recovered by the Chargers and a great interception catch by rookie Asante Samuel Jr. Both teams battled in the first half as the Chargers headed to the locker room with a 14-3 lead.

It seemed like the Chiefs we’re having trouble to really scratch in this game until they capitalize on the opening drive to begin the second half with a touchdown as they still trail 14-10. Chargers followed with 3 and out which has allowed the Chiefs to get their mojo back in this game.
Give major credit to the Chargers defense as they’ve been on Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes from the very beginning of the game. They have made life hard on the chiefs but it didn’t take long for them to flip the script on the Chargers as they took the lead 17-14 late in the 3rd quarter.
From watching this game, you can see that these two teams have 2 of the best quarterbacks in the AFC and both in the same division which will be must watch tv every time they face each other in the future. They will both be meeting in LA for Thursday night football on December 16.
During the opening of the 4th quarter, Justin Herbert converts on a 4th downplay to Keenan Allen as it follows by a touchdown from Herbert to Mike Williams.

Chargers WR Mike Williams is in his contract year which is key for his great play to start the season.
The Chiefs scored a big touchdown in the middle of the 4th quarter to take a 24-21 lead.
This upcoming week in practice the Chargers better teach all the players about illegal shifts as it hurt them last week against the Cowboys in which the touchdown was called off to win the game and today as well. Too many mistakes like these make your coach unhappy. Thanks to a big interception and a bad throw by Patrick Mahomes with about a minute left in the game gave the ball back to the Chargers.
Chargers Head Coach Brandon Staley is not afraid of anyone as he showed his great play calling to go for it on 4th and 9 to convert and go for the win.

All I have to say is Justin Herbert is a top 5 quarterback in the NFL today. There is no way he is not in the conversation after the big win today in Kansas City after a devastating loss at home last week against the Cowboys.
If it wasn’t for the great play calling coming from coach Brandon Staley, the Chargers would not be flying back to LA with a huge smile after the win they had today. They had 4 big takeaways to win this game which was not easy but Justin Herbert makes it look like a walk in the park.
