The Fredo Report

Clippers get a Win and Lakers get a Ring

December 22, 2020

The Lakers entered the 2020-2021 NBA season on the quest to repeat and bring the 18th Championship in franchise history. This year’s ring ceremony was so unique and different with video greetings coming from the players families as they finish the celebration of winning the 2020 NBA Championship.

The Lakers had a sloppy start in this game as the Clippers took a 22 point lead in the first half, but then the Clippers weren’t able to buy a bucket during the second quarter which allowed the Lakers to cut the lead down to 11 after a three pointer by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

It seemed like the Clippers weren’t so happy after watching the Lakers get their championship rings as Paul George came out scoring with a few jumpers. Kawhi Leonard was leading the team in scoring in the first half as he looked like the Kawhi Leonard we all know. The Clippers picked up a few new players this off season including a new head coach, Ty Lue, which was Doc Rivers assistant last year.

LeBron and the Lakers came out for the second half aggressively as LeBron has 18 points on 6-13 shooting and Anthony Davis with 14 points late in the third quarter. One player who is playing great is former Clippers F Montrezl Harrell who signed a 2 year deal with the Lakers. Harrell has 14 points 8 rebounds in 17 mins on 5-5 shooting here on opening day of the NBA season.

During the 4th quarter, the Clippers began playing much better behind the performance of Paul George and Kawhi Leonard as they take a 15 point lead late in the 4th quarter which was too late for the defending champions.

LeBron James played 28 minutes in this game as he put up 22 points 5 rebounds and 5 assists which he looked great out there but it just seemed like the team was not in rhythm and the ring ceremony kinda took their focus away from the game.

Lakers G Dennis Schroder was 2 assists shy of a triple double with 14 points 12 rebounds and 8 assists in his Lakers Debut. He’s definitely going to be key player for the Lakers in order for them to repeat this year.

The Clippers played a good game as they win the first game of the season over the Lakers 116-109 with the Lakers looking forward for Christmas Day as they host the Dallas Mavs at the Staples Center for the second game of the 72 game season being played this year.
