Could Ndamukong Suh have his best season this year with the LA Rams?

April 5, 2018

The LA Rams continued their crazy offseason a few days ago by signing Ndamukong Suh.

The Los Angeles Rams inked a deal with the former Miami Dolphin a few days ago on a one year deal worth $14 million. Ndamukong Suh bolsters an already dominant defensive front for the Rams that has Aaron Donald, Michael Brockers, Ethan Westbrooks, and don’t forget about Dominique Easley. That’s four 1st round draft picks on the defensive line including Suh.

Suh brings a certain attitude to the field that brings attention to him and has been labeled as a dirty player. Also with the additions of Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib this offseason, there is no shortage of big personalities on this revamped Rams roster. Sean McVay talks about how he feels the Rams can have all these emotional players mesh together.

Suh comes onto to a Rams defense that was ranked 4th in the league in sacks last year with 48. With Suh’s athletic ability the Rams can move him around the defensive line just like they do with Aaron Donald and Michael Brockers. This is going to create huge mismatches up front and will allow someone to likely be free while one of them could be double teamed. Here’s Willie McGinest and Demarcus Ware talking about the Suh signing and how he could be used.

Now the question is, could Suh really have his best season on the Rams at 31 years old? The answer is yes. Suh has never played alongside a player as dominant as Aaron Donald, so Suh will see a lot of opportunities to get easy sacks. Suh’s best season was arguably his rookie year where he had ten sacks, 48 tackles, and a forced fumble. Those numbers could be topped this season especially with the way defensive coordinator

Wade Phillips loves to use guys in ways that allow them to showcase their best talents. Are we looking at one of the best defensive tandems in NFL History with Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh?

With all of the Rams additions this offseason opposing offenses are going to have a tough time getting anything going against them. We should be in for a very exciting 2018 season, and as we really haven’t thought of a new nickname for the Rams newly built defense, we’ll just stick to MobSquad until we can think of something better.

Rams fans have waited for years to be relevant again, but it seems like the Rams have turned the corner to becoming contenders again under the new regime of Sean McVay. Here’s a breakdown of the Rams offseason moves so far by Pro Football Focus.
