The Dodgers drive down the 5 freeway to face the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for a weekend series with 3x CY Young Winner Clayton Kershaw on the mound tonight. Angels are currently 7-12 entering this game today and the Dodgers are 13-7.
As we go through the first inning, Mookie led the game with a walk, but Dodgers did not cash in. The Angels came back with an easy half inning for Clayton Kershaw and he retired the first three batters in order, including Mike Trout. I have not been sold with Mike Trout over the past few years. I’m going to keep it simple with you sports fans; when we look at GREAT players, we look at championships, playoff appearances, accomplishments, and guess what guys? He only has individual accomplishments. He has never won a playoff game guys! He’s only made the playoffs one year out of 9 years in the league, great players win in the playoffs and championships. Let me know when he wins some more, then I can see him as a great player.
In the top of the 3rd, the Dodgers got the first two men on base. Corey Seager then reached base on a fielder’s choice, and Justin Turner at bat with men on 1st and 3rd and one out, he singles to right to bring in the first run of the game. A.J Pollock followed with another fielder’s choice and Mookie scores the second run of the inning. Kershaw continued his excellence through the first 3 innings, not allowing a hit.
A key player for the Dodgers over the last 8 games is Chris Taylor, he has been batting 375. He’s had multiple extra base hits and has earned more playing time with the overloaded roster that the Dodgers contained. Mookie has also been killing in it in the field with 7 home runs and batting 315. for the year so far after signing his mega deal a few weeks ago. During the off season the Angels also spent some money on 2019 World Series MVP Anthony Rendon who hits a home run against Kershaw in the 5th inning and he now has hit one in 4 straight games for the Angels. Kershaw was pitching a perfect game until Rendon’s home run.

Angels cut the lead down to 2-1 but just moments later, Cody Bellinger hit a monster 2 run home run scoring Justin Turner as they take a 4-1 lead on the Angels coming into the bottom of the 6th. Kershaw has looked magnificent throughout the first 6 innings, only allowing one hit so far. Mookie came up to bat with men on 3rd and 1st and no one out and he strikes out looking with a fastball inside and he was not happy with that call. Dodgers score on another fielder’s choice by Corey Seager beating out the throw at first. Dodgers now lead 5-1 with Kershaw still in the game and looking like the old Kershaw. As he faced Mike Trout for the 3rd time today, he challenged him with a couple of fastballs and some off speed pitches and struck him out to keep off the bases thus far with Clayton Kershaw throwing 91 pitches through 7 complete innings.
