Giannis Antetokounmpo’s old school style of play makes his offensive explosions even more impressive

Sure scoring 37 points in a season opener, 34 points against the best team in a conference and 44 points on the Portland Trails Blazers speaks for itself. But what makes 35.5 ppg average so impressive–it’s the way he’s doing it.

As of now Giannis is shooting over 50% from the field at a striking 63%. He’s doing it while shooting 0% from the three-point line. In today’s game that’s unheard of.

A player being able to score as many points as Antetokounmpo in a game and not make a three is an amazing feat.

One of the only other players who comes close to the same style of play is Toronto Raptors guard .

This may be only three games into the season, but Giannis is looking like the best candidate for MVP. If he can keep up this play the MVP award is his hands down. The man looks to be on a mission and he’s making believers out of everyone.

The NBA season is long. There’s no doubt that Antetokounmpo will be playing major minutes for the Milwaukee Bucks all year. But in order to compete in the East, Milwaukee will need Giannis to keep playing at this MVP level. As his averages will likely come down, he needs to at least maintain 25.5 ppg.

A player who can score the ball is needed for this Bucks team.

Last season, defensively, Milwaukee looked like one of the best teams in the league. Offensively, however, every player on the roster was an average scorer.

What the Bucks need is a go-to that can put the ball in the basket at will.

Antetokounmpo was the best scorer for Milwaukee last season, but his offensive game wasn’t at all where it is now. Now he can be considered a go-to scorer.

The man looks unstoppable and truly worthy of the nickname the Greek Freak.

He literally scores every one of his baskets on at-the-rim finishes. But although Antetokounmpo looks unstoppable, he can’t win by himself.

Three-point shooting will be important for the Bucks this season. Antetokounmpo will start to get doubled teamed a lot, and it’ll be up to his teammates to step up and knock down open shots.

Giannis’ “old school” style of play is unique in today’s NBA. It’s so simple but stands out from the trend of three-point shooting.

The Greek Freak has a long season ahead of him ; let’s see if he can keep up this level of play.
