Carter is a player the Grizzlies can use off the bench
Second round pick, Jevon Carter is showing he can be an impact player in the NBA. The Memphis Grizzlies selected Carter in the second round at No. 32 in this years NBA draft, and he’s looking to be a solid pick for them so far. Last night Carter had a huge night against the Utah Jazz. Carter finished the game with 26 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. In result the Grizzlies defeated the Jazz 92-86 and will now advance to play the 76ers today at 10:00 ET.
Carter played 4 years at the University of West Virginia. While at West Virginia he was a defensive stopper. Not only is Carter a defensive stopper, but he’s a guard who can score the ball also. Carter may not have too many 26-point nights, but he can score 10 a night off the bench behind Mike Conley. Carter isn’t a knock down shooter, but he’s a respectable shooter who can get to the rim.
Carter also does all the small things that can make a team better. Carter is a sound decision maker, plays hard, rebounds, defends, a team player and a good passer. Carters size is also a plus for the Grizzlies. Carter stands 6-2, 200 lbs. Carter can become a fan favorite in Memphis because of his style of play.
Every team needs those bench players who can come into the game and maintain the pace of the game or give the team a spark. Carter is showing that he can be that guy. When watching Carter, it’s hard not to like him, because he plays so hard.
He does more good than bad on the court. Carter is a rookie so he’s going to make mistakes, but for the most part the Grizzlies made the right pick with drafting Carter at 32. He fits their culture.
