How much better are the Bucks after the addition of Eric Bledsoe?

Suns point guard, Eric Bledsoe is now a Buck! What type of impact can he have on this young Bucks team?

Before the Milwaukee Bucks traded for Phoenix Suns point guard Eric Bledsoe, they were a top-five team in the East. Now that the Bucks have Bledsoe, they’re a top-three team in the East. The three spot is a tossup between them and the Washington Wizards. The Wizards could very well end up finishing third in the East. But with the way it’s been looking–the Bucks are playing better, have better players and Giannis Antetokounmpo is an MVP candidate –Milwaukee will come away with it in the end. Bledsoe added to the Bucks’ mix can have this big of an impact on the young team.

Tuesday, November 7, the Suns made it official. They traded Bledsoe to Milwaukee and in return they received Bucks center Greg Monroe plus two draft picks– a first rounder and a second rounder in 2018.

In the first round of this year’s draft, the Suns will get the Bucks’ pick if the pick falls between No. 11-16.

In 2019 Phoenix will get Milwaukee’s pick if it falls between No. 4-16, and they’ll receive it if it falls between No. 8-30 in 2020.

Because the Suns are still rebuilding, this was a good trade for them. (It’s not like they lost a Paul George or Jimmy Butler.) They lost a good player but not a high-caliber player, so they’ll be fine.

Bledsoe is in his prime, which makes the Bucks the perfect team for him to go to. They needed a veteran player who has game. Bledsoe seemed relieved once he found out he was going to Milwaukee according to ESPN.

Bledsoe said, ‘It means a lot to me”.

The point guard has been in the NBA for eight seasons now, and he’s experienced. Although Bledsoe’s career averages aren’t elite, his last four years in Phoenix have been pretty productive. Since Bledsoe was named the starting point guard in 2013, he’s averaged nearly 20 PPG (19) and 6 APG. The man has been playing good basketball he just hasn’t been on the right team.

So, now that Bledsoe is on the Bucks the next question is what does he bring to this Bucks team. Bledsoe is a good player and the Bucks are a good squad, but right now they’re not beating the Cleveland Cavaliers or the Boston Celtics in a seven-game series. Possibly, they could take down the Celtics because Boston is also young, but Kyrie Irving is too good, and we’ve seen what he can do in the playoffs.

However, the Bucks will make some noise this year in the playoffs. They won’t get swept by anyone. Milwaukee can push any team in the East to a seven-game series this year.

As of now, the Bucks’ starting point guard is last year’s rookie of the year Malcolm Brogdon, whose been playing well for the Bucks to start the season. Brogdon is averaging 16.2 PPG, 4.9 APG, and 2.2 RPG. He’s is more of a shooting guard than a point, and now that Bledsoe is there he can play more of the shooting guard position. After all, that was his primary position at Virginia.

Bledsoe can also play at shooting guard and Brogdon can continue to play the point.

Bledsoe adds versatility to this team. The Bucks are athletic and Bledsoe is nothing short of that, and he can score the ball.

Giannis has been doing a lot of the scoring lately, Bledsoe can relieve some of that offensive pressure with his ability to score and through his playmaking skills. The Bucks are good defensively, but they lack offense and that’s where Bledsoe helps them out the most. This was a good trade for the Bucks.
