Jared Goff, Rams impress in season opener against the Colts

September 10, 2017

Jared Goff and the Los Angeles Rams blew out the Andrew Luck-less Indianapolis Colts in their season opener behind the power of a new offense.

The Rams impressed in all facets of the game in their Week 1 thrashing of the Colts 46-9. They were led by second-year quarterback  who threw for 306 Yards and 1 TD on 21-of-29 passing.

The victory marks the first career win for Goff as well as his first 300 + yard game in the NFL.

Although Los Angeles was up against a Colts team without , that had no bearing on how well Goff played against Indianapolis’ defense.

Goff’s success is largely due to Head Coach Sean McVay’s offensive system that gives the team more variation and makes them less predictable.

But the young QB isn’t the only Ram benefitting from McVay’s system. RB , who praised McVay’s offense in training camp, had a welcomed performance in L.A.’s season opener as well.

Last year Gurley called ex-coach Jeff Fisher’s offense a “Middle school offense” in a year he couldn’t get anything going.

To start off this year under McVay, Gurley ran for  40 yards on 19 attempts and scored a touchdown. Although Gurley’s numbers don’t jump off the charts, finding the end zone in the first game of the season is reassurance he’ll be used properly in the team’s offense.

Other standouts for the Rams was none other than rookie  who caught for 76 yards and scored a touchdown on just 4 receptions.

This is just a start for L.A. but it’s certainly one that gives fans hope and shows the team’s explosive scoring potential.

Next week the Rams face the Washington Redskins at home with  in tow.
