On November 18, 2020, LaMelo Ball was drafted 3rd overall by the Charlotte Hornets which was shocking to most people as everyone believed he was going higher in the draft but things always happen for a reason.
Ball took his talent from Chino Hills, CA to Charlotte, NC to play for Michael Jordan as he is the owner of the Hornets. As LaMelo makes his debut against the Cleveland Cavaliers in his first NBA game on December 23, 2020 which it’s only been a little over a month since he was drafted by the team. This year for all NBA rookies will be a little different and tougher.
Due to Covid-19, the NBA has been forced to adjust the league to fit all safety needs for the players which in this case, the NBA did not have a Summer League or any type of league which rookie and undrafted players play for a month after being drafted into the NBA. This years class has been thrown into the playing field right away.
LaMelo had very good outings in the preseason (4 games) against the Raptors and Magic in which he came off the bench and had plenty to show to the world and guess who believes LaMelo Ball is a problem, Miami Heat great Dwyane Wade.

Ball was only in the game for 16 minutes as he was 0-5 from the field and picked up 3 assists 1 rebound and 2 steals as the Hornets dropped the first game of the season. Hornets G Terry Rozier had a hot hand all night with 42 points but Hornets G Devonte’ Graham had a awful night shooting 3-11 from the field playing 36 minutes with only 7 points. I understand it was the first game of the season but the rotation Hornets Coach James Borrego was putting out was difficult for players to catch a rhythm which was not good for the Hornets has they were trailing in this game as much as 24 points.
Hornets C Cody Zeller fractured his left hand, team says.
