The Lakers have closed out the Blazers and Rockets in five games and guess what today is? It’s Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals with the Lakers leading the series 3-1 and ready to advance to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010.

The last time the Lakers were in this situation was back in Phoenix in Game 6 of the 2010 Western Conference Finals vs Steve Nash and the Suns as Kobe Bryant hit a dagger in front of Suns Coach Alvin Gentry and gave him a slap in the ass after making the shot.

LeBron and Anthony Davis came out laser focused knowing they have one more win to go and send the Nuggets home to Denver. Davis had 17 points in the middle of the 3rd quarter and LeBron James with 22 points 11 rebounds and 8 assists in his first 26 minutes of the game.

Watching Game 5 between the Nuggets and Lakers here today reminds me of when the Lakers played a young squad in 2010, when Kevin Durant was a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder when they were a tough out in the round.

The Lakers led by 16 points in this game but allowed the Nuggets to get back in the game late in the 3rd as they were only down three points going into the 4th quarter. Nuggets G Jamal Murray has been playing on his last leg in this game as he has some trouble on his knees and finally looks worn down after playing in this NBA Bubble this summer.

LeBron James is on another level here in Game 5 as the Lakers take a 10 point lead in the middle of the 4th quarter after Anthony Davis makes a three from the top of the key. Lakers just seem to want it more than anybody else on the court, especially with Dwight Howard playing very dominant throughout this series. Superman is Back!

The Lakers are advancing to the NBA Finals for the first time since they defeated the Boston Celtics in 2010. I knew since they acquired Anthony Davis last year, there is no better duo in the NBA . LeBron James was not gonna lose this game no matter what as he scores 11 straight points late in the 4th quarter. Give major credit to the Denver Nuggets as they fought very hard throughout the series and especially as they defeated the Los Angeles Clippers and the Utah Jazz as they were down 3-1 in both series.

LeBron James gets another triple double with 38 points and 16 rebounds 10 assists in a win here in Game 5 as they advanced to the NBA Finals for the 10th time in his 17th year career. The Lakers now wait for their opponent with Game 6 Sunday night as Boston tries to take it to a Game 7. We will find out Sunday on ESPN 7:30ET/4:30PT
