The Warriors won the game, but LeBron reminds us of who’s the best in the game
Last night showed us who’s the best in the game, and that this series may end up becoming more competitive than we thought. We all could just be prisoners of the moment, but after witnessing what we witnessed last night. The Cavaliers showed us that even though the Warriors are heavy favorites in this series. They’re still going to have to battle their way to another championship.
We could say well how likely is it that LeBron James scores 51 again or how likely is it that the role players for the Cavaliers play like they played last night again. Especially, after being so inconsistent throughout the playoffs. However, this is the Finals. It’s a different ball game, so hopefully we’ll see this type of play from the Cavaliers all series. It’ll definitely make for a better series.
Also, will the Warriors come out lackadaisical again. To start the game this Warriors team seemed like they were taking the Cavaliers lightly, and once they seen that the Cavaliers could possibly defeat them if they continued to play the way they were playing. They became more locked in. Offensively and defensively. Speaking of defense, the Cavaliers played well on this side of the ball last night. They took a page out of the Rockets book by switching everything. LeBron went off last night, but it was their defense and rebounding that kept them in the game.
LeBron and the Cavaliers were on a roll last night. If this was any other team the Cavaliers would have probably won this game, but the difficult shot making of the Warriors is what separates them from most teams in the NBA. This can demolish a team’s spirit when they play great defense and the other team continues to make contested shots, and all they can do is match their scoring or hope the other team misses. The Cavaliers of course tried to deny Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry a few times, but these are NBA players they’re going to find a way to get open. When one of these two gets the ball, you can almost bet a good possession is coming from the Warriors.
We all know LeBron is going to put his numbers up, but the narrative of the playoffs has been how will his supporting cast perform. If they perform well, you can’t count out the Cavaliers because of how unstoppable LeBron is. Last night was a great example. We can’t act like LeBron won’t do this again. He’s been doing this all playoffs. This was only game, but what a great start to the series. We pretty much know who’s going to win this series, but if we can get a game 1 type game every game. That’ll make up for how lop sided this series is.
