NBA Restart: Lakers win over the Clippers on National TV

July 30, 2020

The NBA is back in action with the Battle of Los Angeles. Kawhi starting slow in the first quarter picking 2 early fouls. He began to pick up his play in the 2nd quarter. Marcus Morris picking up a technical Foul during the mid of 2nd quarter. Lakers F Anthony Davis had 19 points in the first half. Clippers with 13 turnovers in the first half and still were in the game by the half. Lakers had the opportunity to open up the game but didn’t capitalize when they had the chance.

It just seemed that the Clippers have no answer for Anthony Davis with him walking all over with 20 points in 16 mins in the first half. LeBron James with a slow start shooting 2-9 but he did have 6 rebounds and 5 assists to go with his 6 points as well in the first half.

The Los Angeles Lakers have very slow start by giving the Clippers a 11 point lead early in the 3rd quarter. Kawhi seems to have continued his touch he had from the 2nd quarter. Clippers were making all the right plays while the Lakers had no plays. By the mid of the 3rd quarter the Lakers were shooting 3-18 from the three point line.

LeBron James really took on the assignment of guarding Kawhi from the very beginning of the game to the end of the game. Coming into year 17th in the NBA, the noise around the league is that he is the WASHED KING. I believe it is now time for everyone to realize who is the NBA MVP this season and it’s clearly LeBron James.

Lakers came out of a time out during the 3rd the quarter on a 5-0 run. One thing I’ve seen all year long with Lakers Coach Frank Vogel is his play calling coming from a time out, plus great execution from the Lakers players. They finished the 3rd quarter shooting the lights out. Anthony Davis with the 32 points by the end of the 3rd quarter with Lakers down 77-76.

Coming into the 4th quarter with LeBron struggling and Davis carrying the team through the first 3 quarters, Dion and Kuzma came out with the spark and gave the Lakers a 85-80 lead. At one point the Lakers were on a 17-3 running with Davis on the bench. Dion waiters has been the spark the Lakers were hoping to have since they sign him back in march.

Watching the 4th quarter between 2 of the best teams in the NBA was amazing since we haven’t witness any live sporting events since march. The intensity in this game is like no other. Alex Caruso with a couple clutch plays on both sides of the ball gave the Lakers a late push over the Clippers.

Clippers played well but just seem to be missing they’re bench players. Paul George with a late game tying 3 then LeBron coming back with a powerful lay up to give the Lakers a 2 point lead with 12.8 seconds remaining in the game. LeBron with an amazing defensive play on Kawhi and Paul George on the last second shot with George taking a wild shot that barely touch the rim and the Lakers open up the NBA Bubble with a win over the Clippers. They finish the season series tied 2-2.
