When it came to what was offered to the media for breakfast at the Pac-12 Media Days for college basketball in 2022, things were not entirely equal.
Breakfast. The first meal of the day, the thing that gets people moving and sets the tone for the rest of the day.
Day 1: Women’s College Basketball Pac-12 Media Day. The media was served a cold breakfast with yogurt cups, pastries, and bagels. We were all okay with it, everyone was happy going about our jobs and dreams of being able to get to know 12 Pac-12 coaches and their 24 players. We went home or to our respective hotels happy and fulfilled.
Only a few of us were scheduled to take part in the next day’s events, where the Men’s teams got their turn in front of the media. Our friends filed into the hall the next morning for breakfast, and lo and behold, it was different; it was a hot breakfast, replete with turine’s of food and serving spoons.
A full hot breakfast with eggs and everything that goes with it.
The difference wasn’t missed on the three or four of us females at the Men’s Media Day. My first thoughts, “What? Hot food? Where was that yesterday?”
Just as I concluded my internal monologue, one of the most engaging and positive women in media, to whom I hold a candle, appeared. “Hot food?” she exclaimed as she past me and looked at me. “Where were you yesterday?”
We were on the same page, and I promised her I would write about it. I assumed I had published the post, but it was still in my drafts folder.
It’s never too late…
NOT A GOOD LOOK PAC-12! And that’s it, that’s the post!
