Payton II and South Bay Lakers Cruise Through Agua Caliente Clippers

March 4, 2018

The Agua Caliente Clippers came into the game with a ‘snooze’ mode after the All-Star break, getting outplayed by the Lakers right from the get-go. South Bay owns the series 2-1.

It felt like the game sliders on 2K was 100. The Lakers were sprinting to every ball, plotting and running plays while the Clippers were trying to be on the same page throughout the game. The Clippers were very heavy footed, none vocal as the Lakers was easily walking into the paint and getting layups. Clippers couldn’t get the offense working with a 34% FG. The effort from Roberson & DeAndre Daniels both getting 6 offensive rebounds definitely helped the Clippers getting second chance buckets. Two-way player Tyrone Wallace getting called up and another two-way team player CJ Williams getting ejected…The Clippers’ team morale was not there.

CJ Williams was very quiet tonight with only 11 minutes played. Shooting the ball 6 times only successfully putting 1 in, Williams was frustrated early. Halfway through the 2nd Quarter, Williams wasn’t having it with the refs after getting no call fouls. He went back to back intentionally fouls, to get their attention. However, one was a little too much leading an elbow to Thomas Bryant, causing a flagrant 2. CJ Williams went into the locker room as the refs were reviewing the foul.

The Lakers run and gun offense was unstoppable with 54% [45 for 83] FG (40% [12 for 30] 3pts).
The Clippers struggled with 34% [32 for 95] FG (17% [5 for 30] 3pts).

Two-way player Gary Payton II was the Player of the Game came off the bench with 28-7-7. Displaying high flying dunks and picking up the game’s tempo Payton II was explosive off the bench. Alex Caruso had second-team high with 24 pts including shooting lights out 4-6 3s.

Tyler Roberson’s double-double 15pts-11reb and Ike Iroegbu 15-4-9 performance weren’t enough to rally up the Clippers as they go down 119-93.

Clippers still lead 2-1 in the series against the Lakers.
The final meeting between the two will be March 15 as the Lakers will be hosting.

The AC Clippers will play the South Bay Lakers one last time in El Segundo March 15th at 7 pm. DON’T MISS IT!
