Ravens found the answers for Herbert and the Chargers

After a shootout in Inglewood last Sunday, the Chargers travel to Baltimore to face off against Lamar Jackson and the Ravens.

We watched two of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the league today, which can be a potential playoff match up for both teams in the future.

Justin Herbert didn’t look like himself in the first drive but it was not that bad. On the other side of the ball we had Lamar, who went on to score on his first drive which gave them the lead 7-0 late in the first. The Ravens had lots of fun running on the bad Chargers defense all game long.

Lamar Jackson has looked good enough in the first half with a few good runs and throws but mainly the running game for the Ravens has been the main factor early on. Baltimore scored another running touchdown to take the lead 14-0. There was nothing the Chargers could do to stop the run. Ravens added three more points after a 52 yard field goal to make it 17-0.

On the next possession for the Chargers, Herbert threw a very close pass which was intended for Cook but was intercepted. 13 seconds later, Lamar Jackson threw an interception of his own which gave hope and another opportunity for the Chargers to get on the scoring board which is exactly what they did after a Herbert to Cook touchdown pass and another missed extra point by Chargers Kicker Vizcaino.

Both teams wish they had played better in the first half because they both missed big opportunities that could’ve made a difference in this game. Ravens led 17-6 in the first half.

The second half was just the same like the first half with the Ravens controlling the game, which is something the Chargers aren’t used too.

Not sure what was the game plan for Chargers head coach Brandon Staley in having Keenan Allen involved in this game as he was only targeted 2 times in the 30 mins of the game. Allen finished with 5 receptions and 50 yards in the game. Justin Herbert finished with 195 yards thrown on 22-39 attempts.

The Ravens showed the Chargers and the world how good they are and they also showed on week 1 on Monday Night Football against the Raiders on how bad they can also be.

Biggest takeaways from today’s game were two things: The Chargers have to do something about upgrading the kicker and upgrading the rush defense. These two things need to be taken care of as the Chargers head into their bye week.

Next time we see the Chargers on the field is on Halloween day at SoFi Stadium as they host the New England Patriots.
