Redemption holds off comeback from L.A.U.N.F.D. at Drew League

July 29, 2017

The Drew League is home to the hungriest players and some of the best basketball outside of college or the NBA and Friday night Redemption and L.A.U.N.F.D. put on a show for locals.

In the last game Friday night, Redemption and L.A.U.N.F.D battled in a close one for fans. The Redemption came out hot and tried to put away L.A.U.N.F.D. early between stifling defense and impressive big-man play. But L.A.U.N.F.D. wouldn’t go down without a fight despite trailing for the entire game.

Redemption took an early 13 point lead in the first quarter but L.A.U.N.F.D. fought back and got within five by the start of the second. They were able to settle into the game and scored 14 second-quarter points to Redemption’s 18 keeping them right in it at halftime.

After outscoring Redemption by three in the third, L.A.U.N.F.D. made hustle plays in the fourth that made Redemption sweat as the brought the game within striking distance and turned a 13-point deficit into a six point one.

But ultimately the Redemption had an answer. The answer was. Garcia led the way for the Redemption and dominated the second half. When the ball was in his hands he ate, and the man was hungry. He scored and grabbed nine rebounds lifting the Redemption to an 87-81 victory.

L.A.U.N.F.D. was led by Chris Barnes who dropped 36 for the losing squad on 16-of-22 shooting. He got some help from Zachary Linton who added 21, but it wasn’t enough to stop Garcia and the Redemption.

The Redemption improve to 6-5 and will against their rival NWA (5-6) Saturday at 4:30 p.m. PT.
