Skyler’s The Limit: Week 1 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em

September 7, 2017

TEs to start in Week 1:

(vs. 49ers): Greg Olsen has been Cam Newton’s favorite target the last couple seasons. Olsen finished as the 3rd highest scoring TE last year and will probably be a top five guy again this season. Olsen also goes against one of the worst defenses in football in Week 1, so that’s a plus.

(vs. Raiders): Delanie Walker has steadily become ‘s favorite target. Titans didn’t add many weapons this offseason so Walker will likely stay the main target in the offense. The Raiders have an improved defense but Mariota is going to have to get someone the ball on Sunday and I think that guy is Walker.

Under the Radar TEs:

(vs. Browns): Vance McDonald was recently traded from the 49ers to the Steelers. Steelers desperately needed a TE to go with their offense and I believe they will use McDonald a lot in Week 1. The Browns also have a less-than-stellar secondary that should ease the learning curve for McDonald in the Steelers’ offense.

(vs. Cowboys): Evan Engram was the Giants first-round pick and they desperately needed a TE. The Giants’ success counts on getting the ball to all the incredible weapons they have. The Cowboys happen to have a weak secondary that Manning and the Giants will take advantage of it.

TEs to sit in Week 1:

(vs. Vikings): You would think that whichever TE has Drew Brees throwing him the ball would be a guy you’d want to start. However, with Coby Fleener that’s not the case at all. He was one of the biggest disappointments in Fantasy last year for TEs. The Saints will also be matched against a smothering Vikings secondary, so I don’t see Fleener doing much if he even gets a catch.

(vs. Cardinals): Eric Ebron finally showed signs of being a nice target for last season. The only disappointing part of his game was that he came away with just one touchdown last year. I think he definitely gets more than one this season but unfortunately he begins 2017 against one of the league’s best secondaries–the Cardinals.
