RBs to start in Week 2:
Marshawn Lynch (vs. Jets): looked pretty spry for a guy who hadn’t ran the ball since the 2015 season. Beast mode seemed very capable of handling the full workload although Raiders seemed to slowly ease him into the game last week. This week he gets to run against a Jets team that allowed the 4th most points to RBs in Week 1 so Beast Mode could see an uptick in production.
Todd Gurley (vs. Redskins): didn’t wow anyone in Week 1 with his 19 carries for 41 yards but he did have 5 receptions for 56 yards and added a rushing touchdown as well. It’s nice to see him involved in the passing game as well as get close to 20 carries. Gurley faces a so-so Redskins defense this week.
Under the Radar RBs:
Ty Montgomery (vs. Falcons): seemed to be the sole feature back in the Packers offense in Week 1. Montgomery is a very versatile back being a converted wide receiver, so he fits the Packers offense perfectly. The Falcons gave up the 2nd most points to RBs in Week 1 against the Bears so Montgomery could be in for a big outing.
Kerwynn Williams (vs. Colts): It’s devastating to hear will miss 2-3 months with the wrist injury he sustained in Week 1–I hope he comes back healthy. The guy that is seemingly the next man up is . Williams already scored a touchdown in Week 1 and faces a terrible Colts defense Week 2.
RBs to sit in Week 2:
Isaiah Crowell (vs. Ravens): had a chance to have a productive game Week 1 against the Steelers but failed to do so. Crowell had just 17 carries for 33 yards and no touchdowns. This week he gets to run against a tough Ravens defense so I’d pass on him.
Carlos Hyde (vs. Seahawks): seems to be the main feature back in the 49ers offense. Hyde didn’t get to run the ball much in Week 1 because the 49ers were down early (which could happen a lot this season). Last week Hyde only had 9 carries against the Panthers. In Week 2 it doesn’t get much better as he faces the Seahawks tough defense.
