Skyler’s the Limit: Week 6 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em

October 12, 2017

By Skyler Carlin

Another week is in the books for the NFL regular season but here’s another installment of Skyler’s the Limit to give you some help on who to start or sit this week.

The fifth week of the NFL regular has concluded and it was another week overtaken by injuries. For starters, the New York Giants will be without receivers  and for the rest of the season. They also lost for a couple weeks so it could get even worse than 0-5 for the Giants. The Houston Texans lost and so their defense took a huge hit as well. Despite the injuries, the Texans should be happy that impressed again with a five-touchdown performance on Sunday night football.

Now on to my picks for this week. My decisions are made on PPR (points per reception) scoring so don’t @ me.

QBs to start in Week 6:

DeShaun Watson (vs. Browns): has looked better and better each week. I thought it would take longer for Watson to grasp an NFL offense but it seems like that’s not the case at all. Watson is now the 2nd highest QB in fantasy and he didn’t even start Week 1. He’s scored 17+ in each week he’s started and looks to continue that against a struggling Cleveland Browns defense that’s allowing the 4th most points to opposing QBs.

Kirk Cousins (vs. 49ers):  didn’t look too good in the first two weeks of the season but the last two weeks he’s gotten back on track. In that time span Cousins has posted 47.4 points. This week he faces his old offensive coordinator, Kyle Shanahan, who is now the San Francisco 49ers head coach. The Niners are allowing the 10th most points to QBs this season.

The Niners are allowing the 10th most points to QBs this season.

Under the Radar QBs:

Jacoby Brissett (vs. Titans): was on this list last week and was pretty solid. Brissett didn’t do as well as expected but he still came away with 18 points. He has the potential of scoring rushing touchdowns so that’s a nice reason to give him a chance especially if your QB is on a bye week or is injured. Brissett faces the Tennessee Titans who allow the 3rd most points to opposing QBs.

Trevor Siemian (vs. Giants): has been solid to start this season. He looks to continue that against the 0-5 Giants. I like Siemian as an option if your QB has a poor matchup, is injured or is on a bye week. He is also at home in Denver and the Giants allow the 9th most points to QBs, surprisingly, because their secondary is pretty good.

QBs to sit in Week 6:

Ben Roethlisberger (vs. Chiefs): looked absolutely awful last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Big Ben became the first player in NFL history to attempt 50+ passes and throw five interceptions without a touchdown. Are we seeing the end of Big Ben–that remains to be seen but I don’t like him this week on the road against a hot Kansas City Chiefs team that is sitting at 5-0. Roethlisberger’s passer rating drops from a 98.4 at home to an 88.7 on the road.

Jared Goff (vs. Jaguars): This is pretty much for people who are in deep leagues, 2 QB leagues or you’re forced to start . Goff looks like a totally different QB this year under Sean McVay as the Los Angeles Rams head coach, but he’s going to have games where he struggles like any other QB. Goff faces off against a Jaguars defense that intercepted Big Ben five times and returned two of them for touchdowns. Jaguars allow the least amount of points to QBs.
