The Rams cement turnaround season by clinching the NFC West

The Los Angeles Rams cement their amazing season by claiming the NFC West title.

What a difference a year makes. The Rams went from one of the NFL’s most disappointing franchises to a divisional champ in just one season. By beating the Tennessee Titans Sunday, L.A. improved to 11-4 and clinched their first division title since 2003.

The Rams didn’t just luck out either. The entire team did a 180 under first-year Head Coach Sean McVay and Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips. From the beginning of the season until now, L.A. has steadily improved in all facets of the game.

For starters, McVay’s offense has made second-year QB  look like the rightful No.1 overall pick, and it’s completely reignited  after he had a less than subpar sophomore season under Jeff Fisher.

After Gurley was let loose from Fisher’s “Middle school offense”, he’s become a more versatile back racking up receiving yards as well as rushing yards. His play this season has even put him in the MVP conversation.

To say the least, the Rams have completely outperformed their preseason rankings of having the in the NFL by being the seventh-best in the league, and McVay’s has his fingerprints all over it.

But L.A’s defense is holding its own under Phillips being led by , who’s arguably the best defender in the league. In The Rams’ Week 15 bruising of the Seattle Seahawks, Donald recorded four solo tackles and three sacks.

What makes Los Angeles one of the better teams in the NFL is not just their record or improvement on offense and defense, it’s their completeness. The Rams are great on special teams, and it’s their execution in all three phases of the game that makes them dangerous.

It’s hard to believe that in one season L.A. has completely turned things around but they have. Their transformation is a true testament to the leadership of their coaching staff and the confidence and good habits they’ve instilled in the team.

The sky is the limit for the Rams.  They’ve silenced all their doubters all season long and they look poised for a deep run in the playoffs.
