Shot making leads the National team pass the Select team!
Tonight, the USA basketball team hosted a blue and white intraquad scrimmage at the T-Mobile center in Vegas. The scrimmage was between the National team and Select team. The National team was the Blue team and the Select team was the white team. The USA basketball team is preparing to compete for a gold medal in China this year. Fiba play will start on August 31stand will end on September 15th. With that being said, the National team defeated the Select team 97-78, the National team was led by Celtics forward, Jayson Tatum, who finished the game with 17 points and 4 rebounds. The Select team was led by Spurs guard, Derrick White, who finished the game with 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 8 assists.
Although, Tatum was the star player for the National team, players like Kemba Walker, Donovan Mitchell, Kyle Kuzma, and De’Aaron Fox were key contributors as well. As for the Select team, John Collins, Jaren Jackson Jr., Marvin Bagley III, and Jalen Brunson also played well. This game was offensively dominated by the National team. The three-point shooting of the National team is what allowed them to run away with this game. Meanwhile, the Select team was cold from three all game, and they couldn’t get stops. At one point in the game the Select team was 0-12 from the three-point line, while the National team had already made 7 threes. The Select team were getting quality looks, however they were just not able to knock them down.
The National team is the team that will be representing the United States during Fiba play. After this game Bagley and White were moved up replacing Bam Adebayo and Thaddeus Young. White and Bagley will travel with the National team to Los Angeles to play Spain in an exhibition game next Friday(NBA.com).
