Winners and Losers from Week 10 of the NFL

November 14, 2017

By Asha Doucet

The NFL season is moving along to Week 11, and per usual, there are winners and losers to review from Week 10.

Week 10 is officially behind us and it was a memorable one for some teams like the San Francisco 49ers who finally won a game, and it was also a week to forget for a team like the Cleveland Browns who just can’t get in the W column.

Whether experiencing a high, a low or something in between let’s take a look at teams and players who had a good Week 10 of football and those that took an L

WINNERS

New Orleans Saints

The Saints had somewhat of a slow start to the 2017 season but now they’re on a roll. After going 0-2 to begin the year, New Orleans has won seven straight. More so, they are dominating teams. Week 10 the Saints beat down on the Buffalo Bills 47-10 in a game where RB Mark Ingram rushed for 131 yards and 3 TDs.

New Orleans’ seven-game win streak puts them in first place of the NFC South.

Up next the Saints look to continue their dominance against an inconsistent Washington Redskins team.

Carolina Panthers

The Saints may be in first place of the NFC South at 7-2 but the Panthers are hot on their trail at 7-3.

Monday night Carolina blew out the Miami Dolphins 45-21 behind a 254-yard and 4-TD game from Cam Newton.

Newton and the Panthers haven’t been in the headlines much this season but they are quietly having a great year.

To go along with four touchdowns Newton had no turnovers and rookie running back Christian McCaffrey scored twice–once on a rushing TD and once on a passing TD.

San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers finally got one in the win column and that’s enough to make them a winner in Week 10.

Rookie QB C.J. Beathard put together a solid game of 288 yards, two TDs and only one INT to lead San Francisco to their first victory of the season.

The winning feeling was great for the rook to experience because he may not get another chance to do so as a starter this year.

Although Head Coach Kyle Shanahan hasn’t committed to starting QB Jimmy Garoppolo Week 12 after the Niners’ bye, they can’t keep him on the sideline forever.

Either way San Francisco plays the Seattle Seahawks in Week 12 so they better soak up their win while they can.

LOSERS

Cleveland Browns

As the only winless team in the NFL, the Browns will be on the Losers list until they prove not to be.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills started off this season better than anyone expected. Just when they had a chance to make a statement with a win against the New York Jets in Week 9, they fell flat and fell apart.

Week 10 was a chance for them to get back on track but instead they were blown out by the marching Saints.

Back-to-back losses have made Buffalo look more like their old selves than a team on the rise.

Fortunately for them they play the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 11 but to right the ship they have to prove they can beat a struggling team.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys may be Week 10’s biggest losers. Not only did they lose bigtime to the Atlanta Falcons 27-7, they also lost running back Ezekiel Elliott.

After many legal battles, the star RB finally began serving his six-game suspension for domestic abuse allegations.

Elliott’s absence proves just how vital he is to Dallas’ offense, which is in serious trouble without him.

Week 11 the Cowboys will face the best the NFL has to offer in the Philadelphia Eagles.

Gulp.
