Winners and Losers from Week 9 of the NFL

November 10, 2017

By Asha Doucet

Just ahead of NFL Sunday Week 10, let’s review the winners and losers of NFL Week 9.

This NFL season has been riddled with injuries to star players that’s really shaken up the league’s power rankings.

Outside of sure things like the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks and the league-leading Philadelphia Eagles, the playoff picture is as unclear as ever.

With eight weeks left to go in the regular season things are bound to shake up even more.

Before kicking off NFL Sunday Week 10 let’s quickly review the good and the bad from Week 9.

WINNERS

The Los Angeles Rams

The Rams blew out the New York Giants 51-17 in route to their sixth win of the season. threw for 311 yards and 4TD with 0 INTS, rushed for 59 yards and 2TDs and had 70 receiving yards and 2TDs.

There was also a sighting for the Rams whose only catch was the biggest play of the game, a 67-yard reception for a TD.

With the Seahawks loss Week 9, L.A. moved into sole possession of first place in the NFC West. Week 10 they face the Houston Texans who just lost so chances are they’ll keep the first place spot in their division.

The Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles also had a blowout game Week 9. They beat the Denver Broncos 51-23 to improve to 8-1 on the season.

threw for 199 yards, 4TDs and 0 INTs. The second-year QB leads the NFL with 23 TD passes.

Two of Wentz’s touchdown passes were to WR who had 84 yards total on the day.

The Eagles are flying this season with no signs of coming down. Week 10 they have a bye but they pick things back up Week 11 against their division rival Dallas Cowboys.

LOSERS

The Buffalo Bills

In a season where the Bills have been surprisingly good, they had a chance to make a statement on Thursday Night Football against the New York Jets.

Instead, they coughed up their chance to go 6-2 on the season and fell to the Jets 34-21 dropping them to 5-3.

Interceptions and fumbles cost Buffalo the game in a match where they looked inexplicably bad.

The Bills are still in second place of the AFC East but choked away a grand opportunity to tie things up with the Patriots.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers lost big to the New Orlean Saints 30-10 but more than that, gave one of the weirdest pregame speeches in the history of sports! (No fact check needed)

Winston’s odd message was enough to give Tampa Bay the L alone, the team’s actual loss was just an exclamation point.
