Dodgers defeat the cheating Astros in 13 Innings

July 30, 2020

By Fredo Cervantes

After a great win on Tuesday, Dodgers and Astros when into extra innings for the first time this season and it was interesting with the new rules MLB is using this year starting a runner on second base every inning during extra innings. Good idea or bad idea by MLB? I’ve been used the classic rules and I like it better the old way but this rule is perfect to test out during the short season.

Dodgers Mookie Betts has had a slow start this year but came in clutch during the 10th inning with a RBI double to give the Dodgers the lead but it wasn’t so easy to keep the lead as the Astros tied the game up in the bottom of the 10th.

As we headed into the Top of the 13th inning, 26 yr old Edwin Rios lead off the inning (runner on 2nd) with a two run home run which helped the Dodgers come in and sweep the cheating Astros in the 2 game series. So much tension from the night before after Dodgers P Joe Kelly attempted to hit Astros SS Carlos Correa but never made contact. Wednesday afternoon MLB announced the suspension for Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts for not holding his players together during the Brawl on Tuesday night and as well Dodgers P Joe Kelly got a 8 game suspension but is appealing and is currently active now until MLB concludes they’re investigation.

Dodgers are currently 4-2 starting this short season and are now traveling to Arizona to begin a 4 game series starting Thursday evening.
