Utah Jazz breaks team three-point record!
After defeating the San Antonio Spurs 139-105. The Utah Jazz now improve to 12-13, which puts them at 11th in the western conference. Tonight, the Jazz were locked in from three.
Offensively, the Jazz were lethal from the 3-point line, setting a team record of 20 made threes in a game (previous record 19) on 60% shooting. The Jazz did an efficient job of moving the ball tonight (38 asst). Most of the Jazz threes was created from drive and kick opportunities, transition threes and screen actions. Rarely did the Jazz make shots by going one on one.
Guard, Donovan Mitchell led the way with four made threes and 20 points. Not only did the Jazz shoot outstanding from three, but they were also great from inside the three, finishing the game shooting 61% from the field. The Jazz didn’t settle tonight. From start to finish the Jazz attacked the Spurs. Center, Rudy Gobert played a valuable part in the Jazz offense tonight. The Jazz utilized Gobert in several pick and roll situations, and Gobert did a good job at finishing at the rim when given the ball (20 pts). Gobert even had an ESPN top 10 worthy dunk over Spurs forward, Davis Bertans.
Defensively, the Jazz were descent. The Jazz allowed the Spurs to shoot nearly 50 percent from the field, but they did a good job of helping on drives, contesting shots and they forced the Spurs to turn the ball over 16 times. 12 of those 16 turnovers were steals. Gobert’s presence on the floor really causes opposing team’s problems because of his length and shot blocking ability. The Jazz as a team finished the game with 5 blocks, 3 of the 5 blocks was caused by Gobert, also the Jazz dominated the defensive boards (37 to 25). Stat of the night for the Jazz was 18 turnovers.
Next, the Jazz will host the Rockets, Thursday, December 6th at 9:30 PM central time, and the Spurs will be on the road Wednesday, December 5th to play the Lakers at 7:30 PM central time.
