Dodgers hitting
The Dodgers’ offense is on fire. No matter who’s in the lineup, L.A. consistently scores runs–a lot of them. The Dodgers are fifth in the entire league in earned runs (572) and tenth overall in batting average (.259) but they are second in on base percentage (.343) and 3rd in slugging percentage (.457).
Third baseman currently leads the National League in batting average at .351 and first baseman and rookie sensation is second in the NL in home runs with 32 on the season. That number also makes him third in all of MLB in HRs this year.
But it’s not just those two MVP candidates that are hot at the plate. Shortstop has hit 19 HRs, has 55 RBIs and leads the Dodgers with 119 hits with a batting average .307.
Left fielderhas also become a star for L.A. and is batting .312 on the season, has hit 15 long balls and batted in 54 runs. And you know the offense is dangerous when defensive mainstay is having perhaps his best season at the plate. Although Puig is batting a modest .258, his 21 home runs are the second most on the Dodgers.
With such a deep lineup, L.A. scores enough runs every game to win. Because they have the best pitching staff in the league and a good defense behind it, more times than not their opponents can’t score enough to keep up. Dominance of that kind is destined for the World Series.
