WINNERS

Alex Smith

As earlier mentioned, the Kansas City Chiefs drafted a quarterback 10th overall this year. That move signified that time as starting QB with the Chiefs would soon be coming to an end.

What actually happened is that the drafting of a younger quarterback lit a fire under Smith who showed the “F” out against New England in Week 1.

Not only did Smith have 4 TDs and 0 INTs while throwing for 368 yards, he also connected on multiple long balls–the precise thing people said he couldn’t do and the reason his job was on the line.

After Smith’s heroic performance to start off the season, Patrick Mahomes will have to sit and wait patiently for his time to shine; the Chiefs are in good hands.

Odell Beckham Jr.

This one is simple. has decided not to hold out or make controversy about his contract.  Instead, he’s shown up to camp and has decided to let his play speak for him and let the chips fall where they may. But the fact remains the young man is due for a contract renewal and what speaks volumes more than how well Beckham plays, is how bad the Giants are without him.

and the Giants’ offense scored only three points in their Monday night loss to the Dallas Cowboys while ODB sat and watched from the sideline.

That abysmal performance proved that not only is Beckham able to get his on the field but his presence alone allows others to get theirs.

In other words, pay the man. ODB get ready to cash in.

ODB get ready to cash in.

The Los Angeles Rams

The Rams had one of the most surprising games in Week 1. They dominated the Colts 46-9. Although Indianapolis was without their starting QB, which is likely reflected by the nine total points they scored, their defense is responsible for giving up 46 points to L.A.

This Rams team was projected to be awful on defense. Instead they had one of the best and most balanced performances of the week.

Their No.1 overall draft pick in 2016, , notched his first career win as an NFL starter throwing for 306 yards and a TD, and their prized running back,  looks to have some spring back in his step after a low-performing season last year.

L.A. also has a rookie receiver, , who impressed in the preseason and has picked up right where he left off catching his first touchdown pass in his first game as a pro.

All in all, Sunday was a good day for L.A.

Sam Bradford

After spending a few years as a journeyman and one that got picked on a lot as a QB in the NFL, seems to have found a home (for now) with the Minnesota Vikings.

Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints, Bradford threw for 346 yards and had 3 TDs on 27-of-32 passing.

He also did it without just “dinking and dunking” and let the ball fly downfield.

With all the stops he’s had and criticism he’s taken Bradford finally has a good offensive line to play behind and a good defense to back him up. Now we’re seeing his true potential and he looks like a damn good QB.

Have yourself a day sir.
