Winners and Losers from Week 7 of the NFL

October 25, 2017

WINNERS

The Oakland Raiders

Just one week after I proclaimed that  returned from his back injury too soon, he and his Raiders had their second-best offensive performance of the season. They scored 31 points in a thrilling back-to-back Thursday Night Football game in which Carr led an 85-yard game-winning drive.

With the game clock expiring, Carr threw a 2-yard touchdown to to tie things at 30. Then Oakland’s kicker  iced the game with a field goal putting the Raiders up 31-30.

Not only did Carr bounce back and Oakland get a much-needed win but finally showed signs of life.

To say that Cooper had been slumping would be a serious understatement. Thursday night he made his own statement with a 210-yard and 2-touchdown game on just 11 receptions.

Hopefully the Raiders can ride this momentum into Week 8 as their offense looks like it’s finally woken up.

Los Angeles Rams

It seems like the Rams are on my winning list every week but that’s because they’re winning.

Week 7 L.A. put the hammer down on the Arizona Cardinals shutting them out in London 33-0. If you’re a Rams fan that was a great game but if you’re a casual football fan or someone from London who wanted to see a great NFL battle well, sorry.

threw for 235 yards and a TD continuing to show improvement under Sean McVay and continues to have a resurgent season with another game with over 100 rushing yards (106) and a TD.

L.A. has won five of their first seven games for the first time since 2003 and all signs say the tides have changed for the Rams.

They were helped out by leaving the game in the second quarter due to injury but a win’s a win and L.A. finds themselves on top of the NFC West.

Ezekiel Elliott

Second-year running back had himself a day against the lowly San Francisco 49ers in Week 7.

Not only did he successfully get another restraining order against his six-game suspension doled out by the league, but he racked up 219 rushing yards and two touchdowns in route to a 40-10 victory for the Dallas Cowboys.

The back also grabbed a receiving TD after catching a short pass from and taking it 72 yards to the house.

As a team Dallas is 3-3 on the season but Elliott is bypassing the sophomore slump and proving to be the Cowboys’ most valuable player.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles are somehow quietly having an amazing season under Head Coach .

After beating the Washington Redskins 34-24 on Monday Night Football, Philadelphia improved to 6-1 on the season–the best record in the NFL.

Second-year QB also seems to be bypassing the sophomore slump and has been terrific so far this year. Week 7 he threw for 268 yards, 4 TDs and just 1 INT.

Week 8 the Eagles play the 49ers so chances are they’ll win their sixth-straight game and improve to 7-1.
